Sun beautiful sun- 24 hours before we leave Quebec City precious sun greets us. For a brief moment we bask in its nourishing rays recharging our cells. However, as soon as we set anchor and bring our beautiful vessel, MS Veendam, out into the St Lawrence River and back toward Prince Edward Island – dence fog approaches, rain reappears and the temperature drops below 40,, argggggg!!! But relax, things ain’t that bad especially on a cruise ship!!!
So much to do, where to start? Where to begin? Well it’s always best to begin at the start- right? Firstly, if not for this cruise I would not have had time to finish off my short story, “Cheryl and the Elephant”- my entry in the newly announced Mark Twain Humor Contest!! It took me three days to complete and I have already sent it off to the Mark Twain House in Hartford, CT. If I win ( ought oh, I said “if”) when I win, I will let you all know about it of course!!! Cross your fingers and toes!
During the last several weeks I have sent out several blogs about my current adventures, from political to cruise ships, and I hope you have enjoyed them! Yesterday morning, starting at 8:30am I spent three hours with MS Veendam’s Executive Chef Allen taping a Great Chefs- Breakfast at Sea special for you all to enjoy. Chef Allen’s menu consisted of blueberry pancakes, poached eggs, omelets and a delicious flan dessert!! And he shows you how to prepare them from scratch at home!! A special thank you again to Chef Allen and everyone at Holland America Lines for making this all possible!!!
Today, our special guest was Ms Veendams Florist Agus Mulyana from the beautiful country of Indonesia. Agus demonstrated how easy it is to make your own floral arrangements.
This afternoon, I enjoyed the Royal Dutch Tea Time- in the Rotterdam Dining Room- a wonderful assortment of herbal teas served with warm scones, strawberry preserves and clotted cream- extraordinary!!
And this evening, I am all decked out in my custom tux, for our final formal night at sea. You all know how much I enjoy putting on a top hat and tails- and I look like a million too!!! All dressed up and nowhere to go? Not on a cruise ship, After a wonderful dinner of Filet and Colossal Tiger Shrimps, I make my way from the dining room, to the casino, to the MS Veendam’s Showroom at Sea theater to see tonight’s production “Bob Mackies Broadway” where the Veendam entertainers sing Broadway classics in costumes actually designed by costume designer Mackie- what an exciting production showcasing an amazing group of singers and dancers. And so it flows- What a great day on a truly wonderful cruise adventure!
As they say let it rain when it’s shining inside !!!! Thank you again Holland America!!
